About Us

Our journey began in February 2019, when my wife, in a wonderfully thoughtful gesture for my birthday, gifted me the opportunity to choose my first set of tools by providing the means to do so and gave me the freedom to choose my own path. Since then, there's been no looking back—just a continuous and exciting exploration of the world of tools and craftsmanship.

Back then, I was balancing my time with a construction company job, and in the meantime, I nurtured the dream of having my own business—a dream fuelled by a love for crafting beautiful wooden pieces. Working in the construction industry gave me valuable insights and enhanced my skills in precision and attention to detail.

As my passion for carpentry grew, so did my collection of tools. The introduction of a van to my toolkit marked a transformative moment, turning that dream into a tangible reality, fuelled by passion. The vision of running my own business became crystal clear.

In February 2020, we finally took the leap and officially founded RQ CARPENTRY & HOME IMPROVEMENT with the goal of working directly with the clients and not on-site projects, with the end goal - having our own furniture workshop. On our first official day in business, the lockdown was announced - a challenging time that put a damper on our excitement.

But once the lockdown lifted, and we could dive back into work, the thrill and eagerness to create magic for our clients returned.

As the demand grew, so did the need for an extra pair of skilled hands. That's when I turned to my father, inviting him to join this heartwarming journey. With his help, the dream of having a workshop, a dedicated place where we could bring to life custom-built wardrobes, tailored storage solutions, and captivating media walls became even stronger. It felt like a new chapter, a goal that added depth to our vision.

Two years of relentless effort and commitment paved the way. 2023 was the year when we proudly unlocked the door to our workshop, signalling the beginning of a fresh chapter in our business journey.

The establishment of our workshop has been made possible to us through the support, opportunities, and collaboration with our valued clients and businesses. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those we've had the pleasure of working with, as your contributions have played a massive role in turning our dream into a reality.

With the workshop ready for a new adventure, RQ CARPENTRY & HOME IMPROVEMENT officially transitioned into FINE GRAIN - Your World in Wood. This marked the next significant step in our business journey, a fulfilment of the vision nurtured from the very beginning.

The name represents the attention we give to every detail, ensuring that each creation is not just a product but a reflection of passion and dedication. The support of my wife, who kickstarted this journey, has been my driving force. This achievement, once deemed impossible, now stands as a testament to the relationships we've built with our valued clients and businesses around Wiltshire.
